All our items are completely unique designs or re-manufactured copies of old original castings. Unlike much of the mass produced ironmongery available today, our authentic hardware is traditionally crafted through a sand casting process and goes through five stages of hand finishing to achieve a natural authentic, living finish. When exposed to moisture directly or in high humidity Cast Iron is susceptible to rust, however light surface corrosion can easily be removed with wire wool and protected with a lightly oiled or waxed cloth. In extreme conditions such as outdoors we recommend applying a suitable finish such as lacquer or paint.
